After reviewing several Police Departments in Colorado I finally visited the website for the Police up in Fort Collins. I started comparing and reviewing the benefits and I have to say the benefits for a Police Officer in Fort Collins are really impressive. Not only are the salaries extremely competitive, but also the other benefits are impressive – especially if you compare them to jobs at large, public or privately held companies. [Read more...]
Colorado Police Jobs – Alamosa Police Officer
Currently the City of Alamosa is looking for a Police Officer to join their Police Force. The job description does not say that one needs to go through a police academy training. I assume that individuals who are already POST (P.O.S.T.) certified might be able to become employed without the need to go through full police academy training. Individuals who are not POST certified definitely need to go through the appropriate police officer training. [Read more...]
Police Officer Job Description
What is it like to be a police officer? What does a job description for a police officer look like and how does it help you to determine if the job of a police officer is right for you? I can tell you from experience that a job description can be very misleading because the job description for a police officer and real life experience are two different things. I have seen somebody being accepted to Police Academy and then drop out voluntarily after week #1. It was not the physical stress or so, but in her case it was watching videos showing real dead people like accident victims or so. Definitely a part that was missing from the police officer job description she had read before applying for the job. [Read more...]

Police Academies in Colorado
Colorado is home to several police academies. Police Officer training in Colorado is split between police academies and colleges. While the college based police academies are easier to get into, they do not come with a job assignment (upon graduation) nor do the students get paid during the time of training (rather the opposite is true). Students that are accepted with a police academy that is operated by a city or county usually receive some sort of compensation, in several cases the full salary of a police officer. [Read more...]

Each Police Department or Sheriff’s department might have different ways to examine your personal fitness level, but many fall back to a proven test system. The LawFit Obstacle Course is a standardized fitness examination test for law enforcement personnel. [Read more...]

Aurora has its own bag of problems and police officers for the city of Aurora will probably face different situations compared to their colleagues in Jefferson County. So, these challenges need to be addressed during training and the Aurora Police Academy has a great reputation to train the recruits thoroughly. [Read more...]
Jefferson County Law Enforcement Academy
Colorado is home to several police academy institutions run by cities or counties. I have already ready reviewed the Denver Police Academy and today I am writing about the Jefferson County Police Academy or better the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Academy. Jefferson County is called the Gateway to the Rockies and it spreads out from the Denver Foothills / Front Range into the Rocky Mountains accordingly. Due to its location you can expect that work as a police officer in Jefferson County can have some differences compared to a police officer working the streets of Denver. [Read more...]
